The selection and training of horses is both a skill and an art. It's obviously not something just anybody can do. And we're pretty picky about who we select to work with our beloved animals. It starts with honesty, respect, common sense and consistency. Whether it's working with horses or people, those qualities are cornerstones of any good program. And they are absolutely mandatory for the people we will trust with our horses - and you.
Great Team of People
We're happy to say we've found such a group. Our core wranglers are a mature, careful and trustworthy group who personify the 3 C's we value at the Hideout - Character, Conduct and Competence. And we embrace the philosophy known as Natural Horsemanship. You could spend a lifetime learning what that term means. But simply put, Natural Horsemanship is an effective technique of handling horses and also cattle, with as little stress as possible. The animals like it. And so do we.
It takes a lifetime of learning, learning that goes on at The Hideout year round. And our Guest Ranch is continuously investing in training for our key staff members, not only in horsemanship, but communication and leadership as well.
Team Approach to Horse training
Because of the different trainers & wranglers we have on staff and the consistent culture of natural horsemanship we can take a team approach to training horses and organizing clinics incorporating the variety of talents and experiences of our staff. At The Hideout this can all take place within a consistent framework of quality and respect for horse and rider.
