Winter horseback riding
Shell Valley offers almost 365 days of clear, blue skies. Because of our location, we generally we have mild winters.
Weather permitting, scenic rides are available at lower elevations, including riding with wild mustangs.
Snowmobiling
The Big Horn Mountains reach up to 13,100 feet. We get plenty of snow from mid-January through March. There are over 400 miles of groomed trails in the Big Horn National Forest and Cloud Peak Wilderness. Several lodges are spread across the mountain range, where you can stop for a hearty lunch and warm up next to a fire.
Yellowstone in Winter
Enjoy a guided tour or overnight stay in Yellowstone National Park as part of your vacation. Yellowstone offers more opportunity to see wildlife in winter then summer and …no traffic jams or crowding. www.grubsteaktours.com
Snowshoeing & Cross Country Skiing
The Big Horn Mountains are little known in summer, let alone in winter. We have several groomed cross-Country trails and the snowshoeing is just out of this world.
