The Hideout Kitchen
Coming to The Hideout as a guest a few years ago was truly a life changing experience for me. From the day I left, I longed to return, but returning as a guest was not enough…I wanted to be part of The Hideout Team. For 3 years I worked on a strategy to change my life and work at the ranch. I sold my healthy meal delivery service in MA in 2017 to fulfill my dream of becoming a wrangler at The Hideout.
I moved to WY with a few belongings and my dog Berger. It is a decision I will never regret…it was a wonderful season! Although I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of wrangling, when Peter & Marijn approached me about the executive chef position, I leapt at the chance. I have been cooking for 35 years and have owned 2 businesses revolved around feeding hungry people! I have a rustic, approachable style to food, perfect for fueling guests for a long day in the saddle and satisfying hunger at the end of a day moving cattle. I like to let the food speak for itself by keeping ingredients simple, fresh and unfussy, and boy do I like to bake. I feel I have come full cycle. I have cooked for horse people my whole life. I was an accomplished Event rider in my younger days, and horses have played a role in my successes. I have transitioned from Hideout guest to wrangler to chef. To be cooking at the Hideout, truly my favorite place in the world, doing exactly what I love, for people I love, is my personal dream come true.
Much as the rest of our management team at The Hideout, Rachel is passionate about operating a clean, well-organized and caring environment.
