Hideout Guest Riding Testimonials
Impressions of the more advanced and intermediate riders after a 16 mile ride which included cattle work. These riders rode up the century old rocky and challenging Black Mountain Road Trail from 4,200 feet in the valley to our mountain pastures at 7,000 feet. After a good long day in the saddle gathering and herding cattle they rode down to the valley. Guests and horses were loaded up in the trucks and trailers and headed for nice shower, cocktail hour and great meal at The Hideout Lodge to celebrate a memorable day cowboying in the West.
Cattle Work at The Hideout Lodge & Guest Ranch
The Hideout Lodge & Guest Ranch is a working cattle and riding guest ranch. We offer different levels of cattle work and will take the time to teach you how to do this properly. As you will see on this short video clip we teach our guests how to work cattle on horseback moving small herds in the valley. You will have the opportunity to do team penning in our professional arena. Most weeks of the season our guests can also participate in the real cattle work moving bigger herds if they wish.
Please enjoy the video clips of wranglers and guests doing cattle work.

Trail Riding at The Hideout Lodge & Guest Ranch
The Hideout Lodge & Guest Ranch is a riding ranch. We offer non-riding activities but most of our guests come from around the world for the riding, the horses and horse program. We have access to approximately 650,000 acres in a variety of country and elevations. We split the riders up in groups based on their riding capability, riding activity or desired length of the ride.
Some trails call for single file and we split up in smaller groups once arrived at the destination. This is not a nose to tail ranch and we do trot and lope where possible and if guests have control of their horses.
Because of the vastness of this ranch we have access to seven truck and trailer combinations which offers our guests a seldom seen flexibility of riding new country every day of the week.
