As most of you know, this phrase is a reference to opera, especially to the stereotype of a large powerful-voiced soprano performing a lengthy finale aria of a long opera, such as Brunnhilde in Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen.
Well, we don’t have a powerful Brunnhilde’s voice at The Hideout, but we surely have powerful, fun and competent personalities on our team. We created these mosaic pictures of our entire 2025 Team for you to enjoy!
The 2025 Season is over – 30 years Hideout

The fat lady has sung over our 2025 season. Our 2025 Season song was a happy song, full of memories, a happy crew, happy guests and happy horses.
This was the 30th season of The Hideout as a guest ranch, and it was probably our best season both “above deck as below deck”. We could not have wished for a nicer celebration of 30 years Hideout.

All in for a great 2026 Song
And the good news is that most of our “below deck” crew is coming back, and a record number of “above deck” guests from around the world are coming back also.
To the point where next year’s season is filling up faster than ever before.

What is going on at The Hideout during off-season?
Well, if you have followed these blog posts, the usual end of the season activities are taking place.
Pulling shoes and trimming prior to turning our beloved herd out to graze their winter pastures, and enjoy a well-deserved off-season vacation. Cleaning trucks and trailers, bringing in all the trucks, trailers and other vehicles for service, washing sheets, covers, cleaning cabins and other buildings.
Winterizing buildings, making reports for the BLM and Forest Service of Recreational Usage on public lands to determine payments, cleaning lawns, maintaining farm equipment, working on our NY cards, communication and marketing, bookings and reservations, and much more. Refurbishing and remodeling. Checking, oiling and repairing saddles and tack.
A major job is also summarizing all the horse related data we gather and compute on a daily basis throughout the season, summarizing and analyzing this data which drives the sourcing of new horses, horse training, etc. We are always shopping around for new horses to add to our herd.
And of course, there are always some new projects like installing an irrigation pivot system at Trapper Ranch, which is a big job.
Reloading the batteries
One of the most important jobs for our crew during the off-season is reloading their own batteries, taking vacation, relaxing and doing different things, changing pace. Reset and clear our heads to make sure we are all fully energized with enthusiasm and smiles ready to make magic happen for our guest’s next season.
Our To Do list for the Off-Season is long, and I could go on and on, but I will keep this blog short.
On behalf of our entire 2025 Crew, happy trails and thank you for visiting us!
Peter
