Over the years we estimate that well over 3,000,000 pictures and videos were taken at The Hideout of our ranch, horses, guests, staff, and surrounding areas in the Bighorn Mountains, Big Horn Basin, Shell, etc. by professional and amateur photographers during the many photo shoots, photography weeks and clinics,  documentaries, fashion shoots, and by guests and travelers from around the world. In addition our Wranglers take daily photos and videos of our guests at the ranch.

Recently we had the opportunity to work with an amazing photographer Bart Verschueren and his lovely wife Annelies.

Earlier this season Annelies (pictured left) convinced Bart (pictured right) to come for a riding vacation at The Hideout

Annelies is an avid horseback rider and communication specialist. Annelies today works as a full-time dog trainer and is probably the best looking, and most elegant professional dog trainer we have ever met. Bart is an economist, advertising and photography video professional. He lives what he calls “a James Bond life”, involved in everything from off-road raids, car racing, shooting, flying, skiing, exotic travels and adventure. He is professionally very involved with Nikon in Europe and Japan and knows all the ins and outs of these sophisticated cameras. During his first stay earlier this season, Bart not only took incredible pictures, but he and Annelies fit our culture at The Hideout like gloves. We all agreed he should come back another time.

Late in September, on a Saturday evening, Victor picked them up at Cody airport. While Annelies went on all rides, Bart, assisted by Victor and myself, drove and ran around from morning to evening to be at the right spots to capture pictures of horses, guests, staff, landscapes, game during the golden hours of the day.

As every photographer knows, this time of the year, Shell Valley and the Bighorn Mountains offer some of the best and most beautiful light.

We put our old 1991 red Suburban, known as The Red Dragon, the little 95 Jeep Wrangler, and our Polaris to work.

We hiked at elevations of 4,200 ft in the valley up to 10,800 ft in the high country.

Our guests included a group of riding ladies from Idaho, repeat guests from several states in the US and Holland, and new riders from France and Switzerland. Please enjoy a first sample of some of the pictures Bart took during his stay.
